NuvoNexus operates on a pattern proven twice before — building deep-tech companies through invention, customer development, and acquisition by larger defense and materials primes. This page covers the institutional record at the company level. For the founder’s individual operator history, see davidsherrer.com.
Nuvotronics was founded in June 2008. The company acquired the Rohm and Haas Blacksburg microfabrication business in July 2008 and built it into a defense-electronics manufacturer around PolyStrata, a 3D-microfabrication technology for millimeter-wave components. PolyStrata technology originated under DARPA funding inside Rohm and Haas in 2006 — a technology origin, not the company’s founding date.
Nuvotronics executed DARPA programs across Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III, building a portfolio of 125+ issued patents worldwide across the leadership team. Cubic Corporation announced its acquisition of Nuvotronics on 14 March 2019, for approximately $64 million cash plus up to $8 million in earn-out consideration.

NuvoNexus is built on the same pattern that produced these two transitions: technical depth, disciplined program execution, and a deliberate path to acquisition by a larger strategic partner.
